The restaurant never changed its taste for 25 years since my first time there. Same waiters, too. I enjoy the quality of the food and love to cook the meat myself, despite the hospitality. I am a regular there, and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Quality/Quantity - We got the following and as usual, we over ordered: 3 different soups - See pictures. All of which were good. Two pancakes - Seafood and Korean Style Mung Bean Pancake; my preference was the seafood pancake. But the sauce was way too salty for me. Bibimbap - Our guest's rice/starch base for his meal. B.B.Q. Short Ribs - Marinated; two orders. My favorite entree. Too bad after our HUGE lunch, see Dragon Beaux Yelp review, I just could not eat so much. Plus I am a light eater. B.B.Q. Chicken - Good, but not as good as my BBQ short ribs. B.B.Q. Rib Eye - Marinated; this was not as good as the short rib. Fish - Fairly meaty. BBQ Pork Belly into thin slices (spicy bacon) - The first time having this and it was good. Not spicy at all in my opinion. Too bad I am on a health kick and cutting back on bacon, fatty foods, etc. Clear Yam Noodle - If this came out sooner, it would have been my starch instead of the white rice. Good quality and quantity of side dishes, banchan. Started with two sets and got a few refills. See pictures. Washed everything down with OB and Cass beer. They also offer self service charcoal BBQing/grilling. Atmosphere - Open 7 days a week from noon to 9pm or 10pm. Metered street parking. Small local business. Service - 5 stars. Always better when you (our guest and my wife) know the owner. :) Because we stayed so long, we had our tea filled several times also. Price - $450, some of the above dishes were complimentary as we are/were regular customers. And on top of that, we got treated by our guests. I tried to pay, well for at least half the bill and still got rejected. Our guests are so generous. We tried to pay for both meals today, but ended up getting treated... And if you know, both meals today were really expensive. Owner Comment - Congrats on your 19+ years of success! See you next time we are in the city.

Really yummy Korean BBQ! The grill is a real wooden charcoal grill which gave the meat amazing flavor. The banchan was so fresh and good quality. The meat was also very good quality and huge portions! They also have raw marinated crab which was nice and spicy. The staff was so quick and friendly.

Wooden Charcoal is hands down the best korean restaurant in SF. I've never eaten there in person, but I've ordered doordash from here AT LEAST once a week. Their spicy pork is the best I've ever had -- better than any I've tried in Korea, LA Ktown, and NYC Ktown. Their beef short rib soup is really flavorful and their portions for galbi are HUGE. I've ordered this soup at several other Korean restaurants in the Bay, and none of them come close to the amount of meat you get from wooden charcoal. Also, the meat falls off the bone and is perfectly tender and soft. The chicken ginseng soup is so authentic and it is VERY obvious when you get it that they use high quality ingredients. The crab stew is super fresh and comes with really huge crabs with lots of meat!! So good!! Their banchan is pretty top tier -- good variety with the essentials. I've also gotten their mackerel, bbq short ribs, and kimchi stew. You can't go wrong with anything here. So good!!

We were drawn to this place because of the charcoal kbbq. We came in for a late lunch and the dining room had a few tables full of regulars. The lady helping us was very sweet and attentive. The charcoal bbq set for two was more than enough food to have us stuffed. The banchan, including the kimchi, was flavorful and fresh. I'm very happy with my experience here, and I want to come back to try the short rib!

Still #1 for me and appears expensive until you see all the meat and soup and rice and Banchan (10 plates) arrive. They are always busy and understaffed at rush but it remains my SF go to. The ladies are wonderful. The quality perfect. I have been coming for decades and will continue.

Been coming here for years, this is one of my favorite korean bbq spots! They use real charcoal and it makes such a huge difference. Note, that if you want to do charcoal grilling at your table, you need to order two different types of meats. This time, I came in on a Friday for lunch with my partner. We got the lunch short ribs special and the beef sashimi (yukhoe) with rice. The short ribs were extremely tender and paired perfect with the banchan and rice. The beef sashimi was serviced refreshing and served with an egg yolk. It had lettuce, cucumbers, bean sprouts, pear, and sesame oil. I prefer getting the yukhoe main dish since it showcases the beef flavor better without the vegetables, but I was still satisfied with the yukhoe with rice. The banchan is always delicious and they're happy to refill it for you. The price might seem high but if you come with a group, it's basically ayce pricing. Plus you get to take home leftovers and the quality is definitely way better than most ayce places.
